Mariquita Tolima city frutera

Mariquita was founded on August 28, 1551 by Francisco Nunez Pedrozo. Mariquita was a significant population during colonial times. In Mariquita died Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada the founder of Bogota on February 16, 1579. At the present a Mariquita is called the fruit of Tolima city, by a strange fruit crops known as the food of the gods “ the mangostino”. It was important also for the overhead cable that connected with the city of Manizales.
